Buffalo Council Votes to Keep Main Street Trees

The Buffalo City Council has voted to officially keep the trees on Main Street and not have the Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) remove them during the upcoming 2024 Main Street Reconstruction project.
City Building Inspector Terry Asay told the council at their meeting Tuesday night that the city and WYDOT had an agreement when the trees were planted years ago.
Asay said City Attorney Dennis Kirven suggested the council make an official motion on their decision.
The council passed a motion to leave the trees as-is and remove them from the WYDOY contract.
WYDOT would only be responsible for replacing the concrete around the trees as necessary, and the city will be responsible for maintenance and/or replacement of them.
They also passed a motion to accept the offer from Paul and Laura Schuman with Heartland Tree Care of Buffalo to trim and care for the trees at no cost to the city.
