Museum at the Bighorns looking to collect fossils for preservation

The Museum at the Bighorns’ exhibit, Dinosaurs to Mammals: 150 Years of Wyoming Prehistory has proven to be a popular attraction for the museum.

Executive Director of the Museum at the Bighorns, Danielle Stuckle, made an appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse telling listeners that it’s not only the kids that love dinosaurs. 

Much of the paleo exhibit will be one loan to the Museum at the Bighorns from Sheridan College for the next two years. But Stuckle and her team at the museum realize the value of having some pieces to preserve at the Museum at the Bighorns for future exhibits. 

The Museum at the Bighorns is a 501(c)3. The museum is not linked to local, state or federal governments, but is funded by and open for the public. Stuckle said the small staff at the museum take the responsibility of preserving Sheridan and the Bighorns local history very seriously and are honored to perform their duties as the majority of their collection is donated by residents. 

Should any residents possess any fossils they would like to donate, Stuckle said the Museum at the Bighorns would gladly begin archiving a collection for preservation and future use.
