Sheridan HS Girls Swimming and Diving: This weekend is the state meet for girls swimming which will take place in Gillette.
Two weeks ago, Sheridan placed 2nd at the 4A East Conference Meet held in Laramie and won 6 of the 12 races.
Senior Hannah Mowry and Junior Kloe Fjell each won 2 events and the Lady Broncs won 2 of the 3 relay competitions.
Coach Brent Moore was named the 4A East Coach of the Year.
He says although Mowry and Fjell have been scoring most of the points for the team this season, there are several others that have been improving and getting those few extra points that the Lady Broncs need.
Sheridan last won the state title in 1985.
Between then and now, the closest the team has come was a state runner-up finish in both 1999 and 2017.
The 2017 team missed the state title by 10 points.
Preliminary competition for the 4A State Meet is on Friday, beginning at 3:30pm and the finals are on Saturday at 10am.
As for 3A teams, the preliminaries start tomorrow at 1:30pm and the finals are on Friday at 10am.
University of Wyoming Football: The Wyoming Cowboys are back in action after an off week and control their own destiny in the Mountain West Conference.
It starts this coming Saturday at UNLV.
Unlike the Cowboys, the Rebels have a win vs. North Dakota State, but lost against Air Force and survived a scare last week against Northern Illinois.
UW Head Coach Jay Sawvel says having last week off was good in terms of healing injuries, and bad in terms of disrupting the weekly schedule.
He adds preparation for this game can not be used as an excuse if the Brown and Gold lose.
If there is a weakness or 2 within UNLV, it is that they are the worst team in the conference in penalties and penalty yardage.
Kickoff this Saturday is scheduled for 8:30pm.
University of Wyoming Basketball: The Wyoming Cowboys started their season with a win at home last night against Regis University 95-48.
The Pokes shot 55% for the game, scored 50 points in the paint and got 43 points from the bench.
A total of 6 Cowboys scored in double figures.
Khaden Bennett led the way with 15 points, while Parker Gerrits contributed with a dozen of his own.
Nasir Meyer added 11, while Gavin Gores, Mike Mora and Linus Ruf each put in 10.
The Brown and Gold are next scheduled to play this coming Friday at home vs. Idaho State.
Colorado Avalanche Hockey: The Colorado Avalanche were crushed last night at Columbus 7-2.
The Avs are next scheduled to play tomorrow at home vs. Nashville.
