Coach Bruce Hoffman Passes Away: One of the most successful basketball coaches in both Sheridan and Wyoming history has passed away.

Clayton “Bruce” Hoffman died yesterday (Monday) at the age of 88.

From 1960 to 2007, his coaching career went from the University of Wyoming (1960-1961), to Evanston High School (1961-1965), to Sheridan College (1965-1999) and finishing at Sheridan High School (2001-2007).

Hoffman racked up a career coaching win-loss record of 712-434, with 651 of those wins at Sheridan College.

He is a 5-time NJCAA Region IX Coach of the Year and led the Generals to Region IX Championship wins in 1975 and in 1977.

Hoffman was inducted into the NJCAA Basketball Hall of Fame in 1995 and the Wyoming Sports Hall of Fame in 2003.

In 1999 he was the Head Coach for the US NJCAA All-Stars, and in that year, the Golden Dome on the campus of Sheridan College was named in his honor.

According to Kane Funeral Home, services will be held on Saturday, May 31st at 11am at the St. Peter’s Episcopal Church.

Winter 2025 WY Coaches of the Year: It’s the athletes that win the games, events, and championships, but the coaches have something to do with it.

Amanda Cummings of Tongue River, and Taylor Kelting of Sheridan, have been named Coaches of the Year for the Winter 2025 sports season, by the Wyoming Coaches Association.

Cummins won in 2A Girls Basketball, while Kelting in 4A Boys Indoor Track and Field.

TR repeated as State Champs and put together a record of 25-1.

Sheridan HS Softball: Sheridan lost at home yesterday vs. Thunder Basin 8-6.

Rayna Lollar hit 2 2-run home runs for the Lady Broncs and Emerson Kelley had a solo shot of her own, but it was not enough.

Since the first game is the one that counts in the quadrant standings and the second one does not, the rained out game will not be made up.

Sheridan next plays this coming Friday at Campbell County and on Saturday at home vs. Worland.

Sheridan HS Track and Field: Sheridan is hosting the Gary Benson Invitational today, starting at 11am.

Other teams participating include Buffalo, both Gillette and both Casper teams, Cody, Powell, Douglas and Worland.
