Tongue River Girls Basketball Team Repeats As WY 2A State Champs

The Tongue River Girls Basketball team thought it was so nice, they went out and won the 2A State Title twice.
Sophomore Afton Cummins had a triple-double (17 points, 15 rebounds, 11 assists), junior Chaney Reish had a double-double (21 points, 10 rebounds) and senior McKinlee Scammon put in 13 points, as the Lady Eagles defeated Wyoming Indian 61-47 in the 2A Girls State Championship Game.
After the Lady Chiefs took a 45-43 lead with 5:28 remaining, TR would close out the game on an 18-2 run.
The team statistics that stick out were that Tongue River won the turnover battle (7, while WIHS had 19), scored more points off of those turnovers (23-11), and collected more offensive rebounds (21-8).
After a 1-1 start, Tongue River finishes the 2024-25 with a record of 25-1.
