Sheridan College Rodeo: The Sheridan College Rodeo team had a pretty good showing competing in front of the home crowd this past weekend.
Aidan Ruby had the only qualified bull ride during the 3-day event which meant his 82 point score Saturday night was all he needed to win the weekend.
In the updated Central Rocky Mountain Region Standings, he’s sitting in 4th place after the first 3 rodeos of the season.
Jake Schlattman finished in 2nd overall in the saddle bronc riding.
He is currently 3rd in the region.
Treton Sheehan was 4th in the steer wrestling.
For the weekend, the Sheridan College men’s team finished 5th in the team standings.
On the women’s side Maci DeHaan was 3rd overall in the barrel racing, and Faith Heim was 3rd in the breakaway roping.
Taylor McGregor finished 6th overall in the breakaway roping, but did have the fastest one-round time of the weekend.
The Sheridan College women’s team finished tied for 4th.
This weekend is an off week from competition.
Cowboys and cowgirls will next compete October 11th through the 13th at Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne.
University of Wyoming Football: The Wyoming Cowboys picked up their first win of the season this past weekend, as the team beat Air Force in Laramie 31-19.
The Pokes were down 13-7 at halftime and one of the key second half stats was that they held onto the ball for 22 out of the 30 minutes played.
The offensive numbers between rushing and passing were almost even for the game.
Head Coach Jay Sawvel says in the second half, the brown and gold decided to dictate how the rest of the game was going to go.
This week is an off week on the schedule.
UW is next scheduled to play 1 week from this coming Saturday at home vs. San Diego State.
Major League Baseball: The wild card round matchups of the playoffs are now set.
Yesterday the New York Mets and the Atlanta Braves split their makeup double-header, meaning both teams made it into the postseason, and the Arizona Diamondbacks were left out.
The wild card round is a best 2 out of 3 game series starting today, with all games played at the home site of the higher seeded team.
In the American League, it’s Detroit at Houston, while Kansas City travels to Baltimore.
The New York Yankees and Cleveland have a first round bye and are waiting for the 2 teams that survive.
In the National League, Atlanta goes to San Diego, while the New York Mets head to Milwaukee.
The LA Dodgers and Philadelphia await the winners.
