A Gillette man charged with felony drug possession changed his plea to an amended charge and was sentenced Thursday in Fourth Judicial District Court in Sheridan. 32-year-old Bobby Dominquez pleaded “guilty” to the amended charge of Misdemeanor Possession of a Controlled Substance- Methamphetamine. Dominquez was originally charged with felony possession for having just over three ounces of methamphetamine in his possession when he was arrested on December 6, 2020 in Sheridan. The charge was amended to a misdemeanor after the State Crime Lab determined the amount of methamphetamine was just under the three ounces that constitutes a felony charge.

District Court Judge John Fenn accepted the terms of the plea agreement reached with the State and sentenced Dominquez to 9 months of incarceration. The sentence will run concurrent to the 4 to 8 year prison sentence Dominquez is currently serving for meth and heroin distribution in Campbell County. Judge Fenn ordered Dominquez to pay $250 in various court costs and fees.
