Johnson County OKs Juvenile Justice Contracts
Johnson County’s Commissioners voted to allow Chairman Bill Novotny to sign the agreement for the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) Grant for the coming 2021-22 fiscal year.
The grant amount is for $14,811 for the county’s juvenile diversion, probation, and drug court programs, according to County Attorney Tucker Ruby.
According to their website,OJJDP “supports efforts to develop and implement prevention and intervention programs and to improve the juvenile justice system so that it protects public safety, holds justice-involved youth appropriately accountable, and provides treatment and rehabilitative services tailored to the needs of juveniles and their families.”
Also approved by the commission was a contract with Volunteers of America for the county’s bed days program, which provides 15 days at VOA’s Milestones Youth Home in Sheridan.
The contract price is for $1,500.
