Johnson County Settles in Vanguard Energy Lawsuit
Johnson County’s Commissioners voted to accept a settlement in their lawsuit against Vanguard Energy, now known as Grizzly Energy, LLC.
At their Tuesday meeting, held at a special time of 4pm, the commission entered into an executive session.
Coming out afterwards they announced their settlement agreement.
Grizzly Energy has offered Johnson County a settlement of just over $230,000, which according to discussions is roughly one-third of the ad valorem taxes owed to the county from tax years 2016-2020.
By taking the settlement the county avoids an out-of-state trial in the matter and they will receive their settlement check within 14 days of signing the agreement.
We will have more information on the settlement in an upcoming story.
