Sheridan County Sets Speed Limits on Tongue Canyon Road
The Sheridan County Commission has approved a resolution to set a speed limit on Tongue Canyon Road, aka County Road #92, after a recommendation from County Engineer Ken Muller.
Muller explained that in a study performed by his office at the request of the commission, they determined that there should be two speed zones on the road, which he explained further.
Muller’s recommendation was for a speed limit of 30 m.p.h. on segment one and 40 m.p.h. on segment two.
Although he sees the need for the speed limits, he said there would be a more productive way to promote safety on that road.
Residents in the area were agreeable to a speed limit on the road, but wanted it lowered even further than suggested for safety to pedestrians and bicyclists that use the road.
The commission approved the recommendation of the county engineer, setting the speed limits at 30 and 40 m.p.h.
