Applications Open for Inaugural Wyoming Patriot School Awards

The Wyoming Department of Education announced Monday that applications are open for the Wyoming Patriot Schools Program. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.

The program was developed in collaboration with Citizenship Stakeholder Cabinet members throughout the state and is one of the Wyoming Department of Education’s contributions to the Wyoming 250th Committee’s efforts to promote and recognize patriotism in Wyoming schools. According to information from the WDE,  the program advances civic education by celebrating schools that go above and beyond in fostering community, country, and character.

By participating, schools can earn recognition for preparing students to be informed, engaged, and responsible members of society. Schools can choose from criteria across four key categories to earn Wyoming Patriot School or Distinguished recognition. Schools interested in participating can visit the Wyoming Patriot Schools webpage, download the guidebook, and click on the application. The inaugural awardee schools will be recognized on Veterans’ Day, November 11.
