The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is alerting the public to a virtual special meeting of the Game and Fish Commission which will be held beginning at 9 a.m. Friday, May 29 and will include discussion and consideration of a vote on a land acquisition of 368 acres next to the Table Mountain Wildlife Habitat Management Area (WHMA) in Goshen County.

According to the Game and Fish, the property under consideration is located off of County Road 55, adjacent to the southeastern portion of the Table Mountain WHMA, and will be added to the WHMA if approved for purchase. The parcel includes 84 acres of associated water rights.

In a news release, the Department stated the property will remain in agricultural production, and Game and Fish will continue to pay property taxes. Also noting this acquisition will expand and enhance wildlife habitat and allow increased hunting opportunities for the sporting public.

The Table Mountain WHMA is managed cooperatively with the Bureau of Land Management. The unit provides year-round recreation access for activities like hunting, trapping, camping, hiking and wildlife viewing, and is closed to motor vehicle traffic from Oct. 1-May 16.
