Ryan Koltiska Announces Candidacy for House District 30
Ryan Koltiska, a Sheridan native and Director of Development at The Hub on Smith, today announced his candidacy for Wyoming House District 30 in the Republican Primary election on August 18, 2026.
The Koltiska family has called Sheridan County home since the late 1890s in ranching, building businesses, raising families, and serving their neighbors across five generations. Ryan grew up here, built his early career here, and after five years leading family ministry in South Dakota, made a deliberate choice: come home to Sheridan to raise his own family.
That legacy of showing up, working hard, and leaving things better than you found them is what brought Ryan to this decision.
“Sheridan County is home in every sense of the word,” said Koltiska. “My family has been part of this community for well over a century; on the land, in our churches, in our schools, and in civic life. Ashley and I are raising our four kids here, and what we want for them is what this community has always stood for: an affordable place to live, excellent schools, and neighbors who look out for each other. That’s worth stepping up for.”
Koltiska’s professional career is a record of community service in action. He served as Director of Marketing and Communications for the Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce, led Sheridan KidsLife as Executive Director through a significant season of growth and a major capital campaign, served fifteen years as an ordained minister in the Wesleyan Church, and today directs development efforts at The Hub on Smith, Sheridan’s senior center, working to sustain an institution that has served residents for more than 50 years.
In the Legislature, Koltiska will focus on three priorities: keeping Wyoming affordable for working families, supporting strong schools that prepare the next generation, and protecting the quality of life that makes Sheridan County one of the finest places in America to raise a family.
He describes his approach to public service the way most Wyomingites would recognize it: individuals thrive when the whole community thrives.
“Wyoming Republicans have always known that independence and community aren’t opposites,” said Koltiska. “We value and respect each other’s freedom. And when a neighbor needs help, we show up without being asked twice. That’s not a political platform. That’s just how Wyoming has always worked. It’s what my family has practiced here for five generations, and it’s the kind of leadership I intend to bring to Cheyenne.”
HD30 is currently held by Representative Tom Kelly, who won the seat in November 2024. Kelly has since announced his candidacy for Wyoming Superintendent of Public Instruction, leaving the district open.
A ten-year member of the Sheridan Rotary Club, Koltiska has served on the boards of the Center for Vital Community, WYO Theater, and Bought Beautifully. He and his wife Ashley are active in their faith community and are raising their four children, ages five to thirteen, in Sheridan.
