Haswell Announces Bid for County Commission
Long-time resident Christi Haswell announced Monday that she will run for County Commissioner.
In addition to serving as a County Commissioner, Haswell currently serves as a board member for the Wyoming Wildlife and Natural Resource Trust (WWNRT), Wyoming 211, the Rural Development Fund, the Sheridan Economic and Educational Development Authority (SEEDA), and the Northern Wyoming Community College Department of Agriculture Advisory Board.
Prior to serving in local government, Haswell worked in environmental consulting for more than 20 years. Most recently, she served as Director of the Sheridan SWCA office, managing a staff of more than 35 employees and providing planning, permitting, and natural resource survey support to clients in the oil and gas, mining, and renewable energy industries.
Haswell has also previously served on the Chamber of Commerce Board, the Center for a Vital Community, the Sheridan County YMCA Board, and volunteered with the Advocacy and Resource Center. In 2020 Haswell ran the Moab 240, a 240-mile running race, as a fundraiser for the Hub and raised almost $30,000.
“I have really enjoyed serving Sheridan County and would appreciate your vote for four more years. Our growth has presented opportunities as well as some tough conversations around differing priorities. Sheridan County needs a pragmatic leader who approaches issues logically and realistically, with the experience to understand how the decisions we make today will impact what Sheridan County looks like 5 to 20 years from now — for both our aging community and the children we hope return someday.”
A Wyoming native, Haswell grew up in Sheridan and graduated from the University of Wyoming. She and her husband, Regan, have three children, ages 20, 18, and 16. Their two sons play football for the University of Wyoming Cowboys, and their little sister is their biggest fan. Go Pokes!
