Christine Temple Announces Bid for Sheridan County Clerk
My name is Christine Temple, and I am proud to announce my candidacy for Sheridan County Clerk.
I often refer to myself as a “political refugee.” Over the years, I’ve been blessed to live in many states, and I have watched, with deep sadness, as other states I’ve lived in were slowly eroded by liberal, government-first policies that undermined families, communities, and opportunity.
When my husband James and I moved to our forever home, with 2 of our children to Wyoming in 2019, we felt as though we had stepped back to the America our parents and grandparents knew, a place grounded in faith, family, freedom, and community. The values that make Wyoming special: hard work, independence, mutual respect, and love of country… are alive and well here. We consider it one of life’s greatest blessings to call this state “home.”
That’s why I’m running. I want to give back to this community, protect what makes Sheridan County great, and help preserve our values for future generations.
As County Clerk, I will focus on election integrity, ensuring 100% compliance with state statutes and always remembering that our government belongs to “We the People.”
The County Clerk is also the chief budget officer for Sheridan County, and I take that responsibility seriously. I will first ensure that the tax payer dollars used in the County Clerk’s budget are spent wisely and transparently. Second, as other departments and elected officials present their budgets, I will work to ensure those proposed budgets honor statutory requirements, and provide county offices the opportunity to cooperate as true partners: achieving results without waste, unnecessary legal costs, or political gridlock.
My background has prepared me well for this role. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and began my career as an intern for a Republican Congressman.
I later served as a Victim Witness/Witness Protection Representative for the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office, advocating for victims of felony crime.
For several years, I was a Federal Background Investigator, leading a team of more than 350 investigators and overseeing security clearance operations for Top Secret and higher levels. I managed multiple state programs, budgets, and partnerships with private sector, city, county, state, federal, and military entities.
Here in Wyoming, I continued my work in leadership and fiscal management as Branch Manager and Security Director for a Wyoming Credit Union, and later as Branch Manager for one of the largest, international banks, in Sheridan.
Public service runs deep in my family. My husband James is running for House District 29, our daughter Megan serves veterans at the Sheridan VA, and our son Austin is about to graduate from Air Force Basic Training. We were raised, and we raised our children, with the idea that if you see things that are concerning to you, then you get involved.
This journey has come after a great deal of prayer and discussion with my family and community. I believe now more than ever that strong, principled, accountable local government is the key to preserving the Wyoming way of life.
I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible — to listening, learning, and earning your trust. Together, we can build a government that serves the people rather than itself, and ensure Sheridan County remains a place we’re proud to pass on to our children and grandchildren.
I humbly ask for your support and your vote for Sheridan County Clerk.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve,
Christine Temple
