Wyoming Game and Fish Sets Date and Location for Third Annual WY Sportsperson Conservation Forum
Gillette will host this year’s WY Sportsperson Conservation Forum. This is the third year of the event, initiated by Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon in 2024. The previous two events were held in Dubois. This event will be held Friday, June 26 at the Camplex.
Wyoming Game and Fish Department Public Information Specialist Christina Schmidt said this event brings together various stakeholders interested in the conservation and management of wildlife in Wyoming. This is a collaborative event, with an emphasis on discussion and brainstorming rather than presentations.

According to Schmidt, this all day event will feature two discussions in the morning – the new Mule Deer Conservation Strategy and Engagement and Involvement.
The Mule Deer Strategy discussion will give an overview of current management and conservation efforts, as well as new strategic approaches. The Engagement and Involvement discussion will provide guidance on how the public can effectively make its voice heard in wildlife management processes.
The afternoon will provide four breakout sessions – effective policy making, landowner investments in conservation, a discussion on public access and wildland fire recovery.
Cost for the event is $25 and includes lunch. The Wyoming Sportsmen’s Group, a Gillette-based conservation nonprofit, is partnering for the event.
Schmidt suggested periodically checking the Wyoming Game and Fish website under the “News and Events” tab to purchase tickets once they become available.
