A change of plea was recently held in Fourth Judicial District Court for a man charged with multiple felonies. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.

Pursuant to the terms of a plea agreement reached with the State, 26-year-old Davin Whiskers pleaded no contest to two counts of felony aggravated assault and battery. In exchange for the no contest pleas, the Prosecution dismissed three counts of misdemeanor interference with a peace officer. The plea agreement recommends a prison sentence of 2 ½ to 5 years for each count, concurrent, and to suspend the prison time in lieu of a split-sentence of time served from the date of Whisker’s arrest to sentencing and three years of supervised probation. The plea agreement is non-binding, meaning the Court can reject it altogether at sentencing and the defendant cannot withdraw his no contest pleas.

District Court Judge Darci Phillips ordered that a presentence investigation report be completed by the Department of Corrections Division of Probation and Parole and scheduled sentencing for May 9 at 9 am. According to court documents, Whiskers was charged with the crimes for an incident that occurred on September 1, 2025 at a residence on Mydland Road in Sheridan. Officers with the Sheridan Police Department responded to a report of a fight in the front yard of a residence. Whiskers broke the nose and eye socket of a female victim, and knocked out a male victim with a single punch and continued to beat on the man while he was unconscious.
