The outdoor swimming season at Kendrick Park Pool in Sheridan ended this past Sunday (August 18th), and it will be a little less than 2 years from now before it will be open again.

Renovation and expansion work of the Kendrick Park pool is scheduled to begin shortly after Labor Day.

Tree removal crews have already started removing some trees in front of the bath house, so that a pickup and drop off loop can be built in their place.

Due to the amount of work that needs to be done, the pool will not open at all during summer of 2025.

Alex Mock who is the Executive Director of the Sheridan Recreation District says work on demolishing the old pump house, as well as getting the concrete out from the pool deck, are some of the first steps of the project.

“We’re not taking out the whole pool. They’re going to refurbish the main pool that we have. They’re going to remove that water slide, that older water slide with the curly Q on it. They’re planning on adding 3 additional water slides. It would be towards the east part of where the baby pool is, so they’ll be extending the footprint out about 30 feet, and then they’re also redoing the baby pool or the zero depth entry pool as well too.”

Kendrick Park Pool was first built in 1937.

The Sheridan City Council awarded a $5.4 million bid to Dick Anderson Construction for the work, which is scheduled to be completed in time for the pool to open in 2026.
