Governor’s Town Hall Addresses Post-Secondary Education

On Tuesday, July 23, Governor Mark Gordon, along with Holly Krutka, UW School of Energy; Scott Stults, superintendent at SCSD#2; Dr. Walt Tribley, President of Sheridan College; and Michelle Wilson, EMIT Technologies, held a town hall meeting at Sheridan College.
Education was one topic that the town hall panel addressed. After Scott Stults spoke about secondary education, Gordon introduced Dr. Walt Tribley,
Tribley thanked the governor and the community for turning out. “You picked a heck of a time to become governor,” Tribley told Gordon, “It hasn’t all be rosy on the national and international landscape.” He talked about some financial concerns that the state and the college faced.

He added about Sheridan College and their slice of the Wyoming Innovation partnerships.
He talked about the technology sector in Wyoming, and keeping the graduates in Wyoming.
To make the partnership work, there had to be cooperation between all the parties involved.
Tribley also talked about the Career and Tech Education programs at the college, and he talked about the manufacturing incubator, which to his knowledge is the only one in the state.

“Most business incubators on in business offices.” He said. In the building across I-90 from the college it has the everything necessary for making innovation machine parts.
The town hall also addressed many energy issues, and those stories will be posted on Wednesday.
