SCSD#1 Honors Teachers, Staff and Retirees

On Friday, May 3, SCSD#1 held ceremony honoring Retirees, Teachers and Staff in the auditorium at Tongue River High School. In his introduction, SCSD#1 Superintendent talked about the teachers and staff in the district.

Retirees honored were: Deb Blanchard – Big Horn Food Service Department; Crystal Lenhart – Big Horn Literacy Coach; Janet Masters -Tongue River High School Administrative Assistant; Hope Foster – Big Horn Special Education Teacher; Kathy Powers – Big Horn Elementary Principal.

Powers had been the BHE Principal for ten years. Al Sparkman, Big Horn Principal, got emotional when he talked about his friend and colleague.

Recipients of the Apple Awards (Awards given to non-teaching staff who have gone above and beyond for the students) were: Roger Ouellette, Damien Paroski, Jess Johnson, Amy Lakeman, Ashley Mines, Tassie Pitman, Ruger the dog, who received some dog treats, and Kevin Charlson, owner of Ruger. Apple award for SCSD#1 recipient was Tassie Pitman.

Teacher of the Year Nominees for each school in the district were: Mike Daley – Big Horn Middle School; John Masters – Tongue River High School; Tyler Rogers – Big Horn Elementary School; Ashley Metesh – Tongue River Middle School; Colter Brantz – Big Horn High School; Stephanie Neujahr – Tongue River Elementary; Jaydine Rendall – Cowboy State Virtual Academy

Rogers said this about being honored in the district.

A large crowd attended the ceremony, and there was laughter and sediment as the principals of each school talked about the retirees and the award recipients and their contributions to SCSD#1.

A lunch was served afterward for all to enjoy.
