Time Change Ordinance Receives First Reading Approval

An ordinance to change the start time of the regular business meetings of the Sheridan City Council was an item of consideration at Council’s recent meeting. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.

The current start time for the regular Sheridan City Council meetings is 7 pm. The meetings take place on the first and third Mondays of each month, unless the Monday is a holiday, then the meeting is held on the following day. The Council approved an ordinance this week that will change the start time of the meetings to 5:30 pm. Councilman Andrew Patceg offered an amendment to include language in the ordinance for the City Council study sessions that are held the second and fourth Mondays of each month.

The amendment to add the language regarding the study sessions was approved with first reading of the ordinance. The City Council must approve the ordinance two more times before it takes effect.

Other business from Monday’s Council Meeting:

A resolution for The Villages Master Plan was considered and ultimately approved by the Council at their regular business meeting this week. City Public Works Director Hanns Mercer said the resolution came with a positive recommendation from the City Planning Commission and explained the details of what was being requested by the property owners.

Councilman Aaron Linden brought forward an amendment to the resolution.

Mercer said the total area for the Master Plan Phase Two is 137 acres, zoned Gateway Master Plan District, and is located at 1280 Dovetail Lane in Sheridan.
