Ron RichterA Sheridan man was sentenced this week in Fourth Judicial District Court in Sheridan for felony drug possession. Sheridan Medias’ Ron Richter has the details.
On June 8, 2023, Cory Anderson was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance, one for being in possession of methamphetamine and one for possessing marijuana. The crimes were charged as felonies because Anderson has two prior drug possession convictions on his record, one in 2001 and the other in 2012. Three or more drug possession convictions in Wyoming results in a felony. Anderson was sentenced for the crimes in District Court in Sheridan during a hearing earlier this week.
District Court Judge Darci Phillips accepted the terms of the plea agreement that was reached with the State and sentenced Anderson to 2 to 4 years in prison for each of the charges, both suspended in lieu of three years of supervised probation. The sentence and probation in count two will run concurrent to count one. Anderson was ordered to pay $575 in court costs and assessments and $750 in public defender fees.
