Discussions on an air service funding agreement between Sheridan County and the City of Sheridan continue. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.

Cost Share Agreement

City Attorney Brendon Kerns, at Monday night’s Sheridan City Council study session, presented details of a contract proposal from Sheridan County.

Last August, the City Council considered, but ultimately tabled a Memorandum of Understanding with the county for air service funding. County Commissioners last year in August approved an MOU with the Wyoming Department of Transportation, or WYDOT, for the commercial Air Service Improvement Plan for the state-supported air service program that was created by the Wyoming Legislature. SkyWest was selected last year as the airline to provide air service to Riverton, Rock Springs, Gillette and Sheridan. Kerns provided the Council with a timeline for the proposed cost sharing agreement between the two entities.

The exact dollar amount of the cost share agreement has yet to be determined, as the County isn’t expected to receive their first invoice from the State until later this month.
