The Game and Fish wants to remind pet owners about the dangers of dogs that chase wildlife. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.
With food being scarce for wildlife this time of year, and having to rely on fat reserves to get through the winter, officials with the Wyoming Game and Fish Department want to remind people to not let their dogs chase wildlife if at all possible. G&F Public Information Specialist for the Sheridan Region, Tina Schmidt says that now through late spring is a critical time for wildlife.
Schmidt says that wildlife are particularly vulnerable this time of the year.
Schmidt said that if you do happen to notice that you’re causing an animal, or a group of animals to flee when you’re out with your dog, you should consider changing your course or retreating to prevent further disturbance.
