Maintaining cattle has been a challenge for many Wyoming ranchers, and over the course of the past 150 years, many challenges have been overcome, and new ones are developing.
This year marks the 150th anniversary of the creation of the Wyoming Stockgrowers Association.
Olivia Sanchez is the marketing and communications director of the association.
She says technology has made things better in some ways for the industry, but issues such as drought and gas prices remain, and a new situation has recently developed.
“Just finding access to processing slots. Our state has done a wonderful job in working together to get cattle processed throughout the state, but those slots are filling up. We’re looking at almost a year out in some places.”
This weekend the Wyoming Stockgrowers Association is holding its annual Cattle Industry and Trade Show in Cheyenne.
