Award Winning Ucross Fellow to Speak

On April 22, at 7 p.m., Ucross invites the community to an engaging evening with Canadian writer, recording artist, and Ucross Fellow Hilary Peach at the Kooi Library at Sheridan College.
Hilary will read from her award-winning memoir “Thick Skin: Field Notes from a Sister in the Brotherhood” and share stories from her life as a writer, artist, and former boilermaker. The memoir recounts her 20 years working industrial jobs across North America, told with sharp wit and poetic insight. ”Thick Skin” received the 2023 Edna Staebler Award for Creative Non-Fiction, Canada’s only national prize in the genre.
Hilary has also released three audio-poetry collections and founded the Poetry Gabriola Festival in British Columbia. She now works as a welding inspector and is currently writing fiction.
All are welcome and the event is free. Light refreshments will be served. Please RSVP below. RSVP HERE
