The Sheridan Lady Hawks U19 team showed their determination at the state championship, held at the Spirit Hall Arena in Gillette. Despite being the top seed in the tournament, the Lady Hawks faced tough competition and won two out of the three games.

In the first game on Friday, the Lady Hawks took on Miles City and came out on top with a solid win 8 to 4. On Saturday, they faced off against Pinedale and once again emerged victorious with a final score of 4 to 1. However, in the championship game against the Gillette Grizzlies on Sunday, the Lady Hawks faced their toughest challenge yet.

The first period of the championship game saw both teams serving minor penalties, but the Lady Hawks managed to score first, with 13:00 left on the clock but Gillette soon tied up the game in the second period.

The second period saw Gillette score another goal, making it 2-1 in their favor. With only 2:30 left in the game, the Lady Hawks were in need of a comeback.

In the third period, the Lady Hawks started off with a disadvantage, down by one with the score at 2-1. Despite having more shots on goal, with 21 compared to Gillette’s 14, the Lady Hawks were unable to score. In the final seconds of the game, Gillette scored their last goal, securing the win and the championship title and a final score of 3 to 1.

Despite the loss in the championship game, the Sheridan Lady Hawks had an incredible season and are already looking forward to next year. The team’s hard work and dedication paid off with two wins in the state championship.
