Ron RichterFood banks across the nation and in Wyoming are seeing an unprecedented demand due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.
Wyoming Food Bank of the Rockies Director Tony Woodell said the food they’re delivering monthly is nearly 80 percent more than in previous years. Woodell said the challenge is similar to facing a strong Wyoming headwind.
Woodell said they are seeing a lot of people who, since March, have lost their jobs and that currently, one in six Wyoming residents does not know where their next meal is coming from.
Woodell said Wyoming Food Bank of the Rockies works with 170 partners throughout the state, including local churches and the Salvation Army, in an effort to distribute food to families in need.
