Pat BlairWith 130 animals entered, this year’s swine show was the biggest event that Chris Sorenson has been part of since he’s been with the Sheridan County Fair.
Sorenson, who’s the swine superintendent, said 4-H and FFA youth were hesitant at first, but Sorenson said he was optimistic that the fair was going to happen and told them to get their animals. They appear to have listened.
Sorenson said pigs are probably one of the most popular animals to show at the fair here. He said pigs are a fairly easy animal to take care of. Then, he said, there’s the animal’s personality.
The fair continues Friday with the sheep and goat shows. The breeding market goat show starts at 10 a.m. and will be followed by showmanship and market goats. Sheep shows start at 2 p.m. with showmanship followed by the market and breeding shows.
Shows continue Saturday and Sunday, and on Monday, the fair will end with the annual market livestock sale.
