Entries from the University of Wyoming Extension’s Office of Communications and Technology recently received honors from the Association for Communication Excellence.

A photo of the draft horse team of Pistol and Pete took two gold awards, while Reflections, the research magazine of UW’s College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, received a silver award in the technical publications category.

In addition, a photo for a Cowboy Branded Meats campaign took a bronze in the association’s enhanced photo competition. Awards were announced during the association’s virtual conference last month.

The photo of Pistol and Pete was taken by Steve Miller during the Bronze Boot exchange between the University of Wyoming and Colorado State University ROTC members last November.

The team ceremonially hauled ROTC students and the Bronze Boot from the border about a half-mile where the students then relay-ran the game ball to Laramie.

Reflections is produced by the Office of Communications and Technology and is the Wyoming Agricultural Experiment Station’s magazine. The publications highlights research in each of the college’s departments and spotlights research by a student. Miller is editor and Tanya Engel the graphic artist for the publication.

Engel also took the photo for the Cowboy Branded Meats campaign, which was requested by the UW Meat Lab and UW meats judging team as part of a photoshoot to provide images for marketing purposes.

The Association for Communication Excellence is an international association of communicators, educators and information technologists who focus on communicating research-based information.
