Museum at the Bighorn Operations Manager Chip King told listeners of Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse, the museum board is working to become the starting point for history loving visitors and residents.

Wyoming is full of history. The Cowboy State is home to dinosaurs, the early history of migrating man, the conflicts around the Bozeman Trail and much more. Much of this rich history is located in the Sheridan region.

The Museum at the Big Horns is currently in the midpoint of the relocation to the historic Woolworth building at 171 North Main Str., in downtown Sheridan. The pause in service to the community has given the board inspiration to become the starting point for the many historical sites.

King said this new location is being designed to bring in visitors and residents alike, share some history and then direct them to the many historical locations in the area.

King said the move is progressing well. The museum’s storage areas are being completed, giving the board and King a location to move the 30,000 items in the museum’s collection.

King also told listeners the new location will open the lobby to welcome residents and discuss the relocation during the 29th Annual Sheridan Christmas Stroll on Friday, Nov. 29.
