Members of the Sheridan Economic and Educational Development Authority Joint Powers Board – better known as SEEDA – got their first look at SEEDA’s proposed draft budget for the coming year in a recent meeting.

Robert Briggs, who’s SEEDA administrator, said the budget is a little over $6 million. Briggs said capital construction projects have been the major expenditures for SEEDA in recent years.

Briggs said the bulk of the proposed budget for the year that starts on July 1 is to finance the new Kennon Products facility in Sheridan’s High-Tech Park. The contract for that has been awarded to Sletten Construction of Wyoming for about $5.67 million, and work is scheduled to start on the site later this month.

Briggs said copies of the draft budget have been sent for review by Sheridan’s city council and the Northern Wyoming Community College District board of trustees. SEEDA is comprised of representatives of both the city and Sheridan College.
