The Sheridan Police Department has received several enquiries regarding males wearing ski masks alarming high school and college aged females. We have received two similar Complaints.
On March 2, 2024, officers responded to Sheridan college to investigate a report of a car full of subjects wearing ski masks following girls around on Sheridan college campus. The car was contacted and four males were cited for breach of peace. The occupants told officers they were trying to “freak people out”.
On March 5, 2024, officers responded to a report of a male wearing a ski mask attempting to enter a vehicle occupied by a young lady on Sumner Street. This incident is under investigation. We have not identified the existence of an ongoing threat to the public.
As is all too natural we receive questions of concern from our community. Rest assured, the Sheridan Police Department releases any information available and permissible in the interest of public safety.
Please report any concerning circumstances as soon as possible so they can be fully investigated.
Attempts to cause alarm to others is highly inadvisable and may be a violation of laws. We would remind people of the dangers of putting others in situations, whether in the name of a prank or in the commission of a crime, where they may feel the need to defend themselves.
