Mavis Lund

Funeral Services for Mavis Lund, a 100-year-old longtime Kaycee resident, who
passed away early Tuesday morning at the Amie Holt Care Center in Buffalo will be
held October 14, 2023, at 1:00 pm at Old Souls Episcopal Church in Kaycee, Wy
with Reverend Carol Buckingham officiating. Interment will be in the Kaycee
Cemetery with graveside services to follow the funeral. Donations in Mavis’s name
may be made to the Hoofprints of the Past Museum at 344 Nolan Ave. in Kaycee,

Mavis Anona Lund was born on January 10, 1923, on the family farm near
Bowbells, North Dakota to Charles and Thelma Coons. She attended country
schools until high school and graduated from Kenmare High School with the class
of 1941. After high school, she worked for Bell Telephone in Kenmare. She was
married on October 20, 1943, in Kenmare to Glenn Lund and they made their
home in Ocala, Florida where Glenn was stationed in the Army. Glenn was sent
overseas and Mavis returned to Kenmare where she worked for J.C. Penny as a
clerk. In August of 1946, they moved to Kaycee, Wyoming where Mavis kept books
for the Golden Rule Store. Mavis was a rural mail carrier for 33 years in the
Kaycee area. Glenn passed away in May of 1998 and Mavis retired in 2000 and
continued living in Kaycee. She has been a resident of the Amie Holt Care Center
since 2017, where she had a huge and loving extended family of people caring for
her.
Mavis was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a Cub Scout Den
Mother and a member of the Methodist Church. She loved horseback riding,
arrowhead hunting, oil painting, and cooking.
She is survived by one daughter-in-law Nicki Lund of Billings; two grandsons; Tony
and Eric Lund and their families of Billings. Nephew Keven and Judy Lund of
Kaycee, Wy. A special niece and nephew Cindy Rosty and Randy Rosty and their
family of Casper, Wyoming, and lots of other nieces and nephews and their
families. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister and
one brother, and her son
