Drug Dealer Changes Plea in District Court

A change of plea hearing was held Thursday in Fourth Judicial District Court for a Sheridan man charged with distributing methamphetamine. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.

In August of 2021, Special Agents with the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation received information that 27-year-old Anthony Cash was allegedly selling methamphetamine in the Sheridan area. On October 19, 2022, Cash was arrested and charged with one count of conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance –  methamphetamine, and five counts of delivery of a controlled substance – methamphetamine.

Pursuant to a plea agreement reached with the State, Cash, at a hearing in District Court Thursday, pleaded guilty to three counts of delivery of a controlled substance. The prosecution is recommending a sentence of 3 to 5 years in prison for each of the charges and to run the sentences concurrently. The plea deal also recommends that Cash take part in the youthful offender transition program through the Wyoming Department of Corrections and that the conspiracy charge and two delivery charges be dismissed.

The plea agreement is non-binding, meaning the judge can reject the plea deal at sentencing altogether. District Court Judge Darci Phillips ordered that a presentence investigation be completed and scheduled the sentencing for May 2 at 10:15 am. Cash’s bond was revoked and he was remanded to the custody of the Sheridan County Detention Center until he’s sentenced in May.
