Big Horn/Tongue River HS Basketball State Tournament: Three Sheridan County High School Basketball teams are hoping to win 3 games this weekend, so they can be crowned as state champion.

The Wyoming High School 2A Boys and Girls Basketball State Tournament begins today at Casper College.

Up first at 9am, the Big Horn girls take on Wyoming Indian.

The Lady Rams beat the Lady Chiefs back in middle-December, but a lot has changed since then.

Recently Wyoming Indian Head Coach Aleta Moss, surpassed former Tongue River Coach Dianne Moser for #1 on the all-time high school basketball coaching win list.

On the other side of the bracket, the Tongue River girls tip-off at 3:30pm against Greybull.

The Lady Eagles lost to the Lady Buffs one month ago.

Other 2A girls games are between Sundance and Shoshoni at 10:30am, as well as Thermopolis and Pine Bluffs at 5pm.

On the boys side, Big Horn plays in the first game of their bracket at 12-noon vs. Shoshoni.

These 2 teams did not hook up during the regular season.

Other games are between Thermopolis and Sundance at 1:30pm, Wyoming Indian vs. Wright at 6:30pm and Pine Bluffs vs. Rocky Mountain at 8pm.

Sheridan HS Basketball: The 4A East Regional Basketball Tournament starts today at Campbell County High School.

The Sheridan boys have the #1 seed and a first round bye, thus they do not play today, and have already qualified for the state tournament.

The Broncs will play in the semi-finals tomorrow against the winner of today’s game between Campbell County and Cheyenne East.

Other boys games going on today have Cheyenne Central going up against Cheyenne South, and Thunder Basin vs. Laramie.

The Sheridan girls are the #3 seed and play in a do-or-die game today against Campbell County.

Tip-off for that game is scheduled for 6pm.

The winner qualifies for the state tournament and will play again tomorrow and Saturday.

The loser is done for the season.

Aaron Ligocki will have the LIVE radio play-by-play call on AM 1410 KWYO and 106.9 FM.

As for the rest of the 4A East Girls Bracket, it’s Cheyenne Central vs. Cheyenne South and Thunder Basin vs. Laramie.

Cheyenne East is the #1 seed and has a first round bye.


Buffalo HS Basketball: Buffalo is hosting the 3A East Tournament starting today.

The Bison play the last game of the day at 7:30pm vs. Glenrock.

Other boys first round games have Douglas taking on Rawlins, Wheatland vs. Burns and Newcastle vs. Torrington.

For the girls, the Lady Bison tip off at 10:30am today against Newcastle.

Other first round games have Douglas taking on Glenrock, Torrington going up against Burns and Wheatland vs. Rawlins.


Sheridan/Johnson County Indoor Track and Field: The 4A State Meet is both this afternoon and tomorrow morning in Gillette.

The Sheridan boys are attempting to 3-peat as state champs and make it 7 of the last 8.

The 3A State Meet is tomorrow and Saturday morning.


Sheridan Lady Hawk Amateur Hockey: The state meet is this weekend in Cheyenne.

The 2-time defending state champ Lady Hawks will pool play the host team as well as Jackson and Pinedale tomorrow and Saturday.

The top 2 return on Sunday to rematch for the state title.

Head Coach Jay Charlebois says there’s no shortage of motivation in the girls for at least 2 reasons.

Game times are Friday at 2:15pm vs. Jackson.

Saturday’s games are at 9:15am vs. Pinedale and at 4:15pm against Cheyenne.
