Sheridan Troopers/Jets/Cavalry Legion Baseball: It’s game day for the Sheridan Troopers as the team will try to win their first state title since 1997.

Sheridan plays today at 10am against Laramie in the first round of the Wyoming Legion Baseball AA State Tournament in Casper.

If you’ve been to a Troopers game, you know that the infield is turf, but in Casper, it’s dirt.

Head Coach Austin Cowen says thankfully the team has experience playing on dirt fields and explains the difference.

As for the other Sheridan Legion Baseball Teams, the Jets ended up going 2 and done at the A-League State Tournament at Powell.

The team lost against Cody on Saturday 9-1, and then lost an elimination game vs. Evanston yesterday 5-3.

The Jets finished the season with a record of 29-24.

Meanwhile, the Sheridan Cavalry ended up placing 3rd at the B State Tournament at Torrington.

On Friday, the team beat Powell 8-2 to advance to the winner’s bracket finals, but then lost that game on Saturday against Casper 8-1.

Yesterday, the Cavalry lost the rematch against Powell 6-5, to finish the season with a record of 29-21.

Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies lost all 4 games at San Francisco this past weekend.

On Friday, the Rocks lost 11-4.

Saturday was a double-header and Colorado dropped both games by scores of 4-1 and 5-0.

Michael Toglia’s solo home run was the only run that the Rockies produced.

Yesterday’s score was 5-4.

Toglia had another solo shot, but it was not enough.

The Rocks are off today, and resume their road trip tomorrow by starting a 3-game series at the LA Angels, which will then be followed by a 3-game series at San Diego.

Denver Broncos Football: Training camp for the Denver Broncos started this past Friday.

The only concern for the team right now injury wise is safety Brandon Jones who went out with a hamstring injury on the first day.

He is expected to be out for up to 2 weeks of practice.

After having an off day yesterday, players will put on the pads for the first time today.

The Broncos first pre-season game is on Sunday, August 11th at Indianapolis, which is a little less than 2 weeks away.

For those who can’t wait until then, the first NFL pre-season game is this coming Thursday.

It’s the Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio between the Houston Texans and the Chicago Bears.

Kickoff is scheduled for 6pm.
