Sheridan Troopers Baseball: There’s about 1 month to go in the Wyoming Legion Baseball Season and for the Sheridan Troopers, it’s time to take care of conference business.

In the course of the next 3 weeks, the team has 5 conference opponents to play, starting tomorrow at Laramie.

Center Fielder Tyler Hutton says there’s more work to do, because a good spot in the upcoming state tournament is not yet secure.

Outfielder Riley Green says there’s still time to fix a few things.

The Troopers return home one week from today and also have home games next week Thursday and Saturday as well.

Sheridan HS’s Gavin Stafford sets State Record in Boys 200 Meter Dash: The overall state record in the boys 200 meter dash was broken twice at the state meet earlier this year.

Senior Gavin Stafford of Big Horn broke the record in the preliminaries, and the record would stand for less than 24 hours, because Chance Morris of Sheridan would best that, by 0.05 seconds.

He would also finish 1st in the 4A Boys 100 meter dash, winning by 0.01 seconds, and was part of the Sheridan boys 4 by 100 meter relay and 4 by 400 meter relay teams, which each finished 2nd in 4A.

In the finals of the 4A Boys 200 meter dash, Morris talks about the race against Bridger Norton of Thunder Basin and that he had his eye on Stafford’s state record.

Morris just finished his junior season, meaning he has one more year to go and could top his own record next year.

Colorado Rockies Baseball: It went back and forth last night, but the Colorado Rockies would prevail in 10 innings at home vs. Milwaukee 8-7.

Brenton Doyle had a 2-run and a solo home run.

Charlie Blackmon added a solo shot of his own, and Jake Cave provided the walk off RBI single, to give the Rocks the win.

Game 2 of the 4 game series is today at 6:40pm.
