Callista Roush and Landrum Wiley Of Sheridan HS Sign NLIs To Compete At Black Hills State Univ.: Two Sheridan County High School track and field athletes are heading to college to continue their athletic careers.
Callista Roush has signed her National Letter of Intent to compete on the track and field team at Black Hills State University, particularly in the long and triple jump events, so she can, as she put it, jump in the sand.
At the Wyoming High School Indoor Track and Field State Meet earlier this month, she placed 3rd in the triple jump and was 5th in the long jump.
As far as what got her into jumping, Roush says it took some persuasion from some friends.
Roush adds she is considering majoring in computer science.
Landrum Wiley is also heading to Black Hills State University to compete on the cross country and track and field teams.
At the Wyoming High School Indoor Track and Field State Meet earlier this month, he placed 2nd in both the 1600 meter and 3200 meter run events, and was 3rd in the 800 meter run.
At last year’s Outdoor Track and Field State Meet, Wiley was part of the state champion 4 by 800 meter relay team, and placed 12th at the State Cross Country Meet, back in October.
He says a meeting between his current head coach and future head coach is what got the ball rolling.
Wiley adds he is considering majoring in exercise science.
