An ugly win is still a win.
Despite shooting 25.5% for the game (13 of 36), and taking more shots, the Tongue River Girls Basketball team got enough of them to drop from behind the 3-point line (6 of 30) and the free throw line (9 of 23), to defeat Pine Bluffs 41-32, to advance to the 2A Girls Basketball State Championship Game.
The defense made up for it, forcing 23 turnovers, which got the ball back to offense on many occasions.
PB shot 36.1% (13 of 36) for the game, but were only 2 of 10 on their 3 point tries and 4 of 11 from the free throw line.
Paxten Aksamit (TR) led all scorers with 14 points.
The Lady Eagles will play Lingle-Ft. Laramie for the 2A State Championship on Saturday, March 2nd.
Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30pm from the Ford Wyoming Center in Casper.
Tongue River last won a state championship in 2014.
