Knowing the community they protect and serve
Sheridan Police Chief Travis Koltiska and the department are taking steps to get to know the needs of the Sheridan community they protect and serve.
Through the Coffee with a Cop and Ice Cream with a Cop programs, the department listens to citizens and their concerns regarding the policing of the city. Another tactic that will soon be employed by the department is a community needs assessment.
Koltiska hoped to accomplish the assessment well over a year ago, but with the onset of the pandemic, the assessment had to be pushed off.
During an appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse program, Koltiska told listeners the intention behind organizing the needs assessment.
The Sheridan Police Department has recently contracted with Peak Consulting to perform the assessment for the cost of $5,000.
The consulting firm will hear from community members assembled for their active involvement in every aspect of the community to ensure as many voices from all walks of life are heard.
