The first cancelation of the 2021 Wyoming High School Football season, will affect one Sheridan County High School.

Due to an increase in COVID-19 infections in both the state and in Hot Springs County, the school district located in Thermopolis, has pulled the plug on the Friday, September 3rd game at Tongue River.

The school district has closed schools for 2 weeks as of Wednesday, September 1st, and all students will be learning on-line.

At least 30% of the school’s students were out of school for illness or other reasons including quarantine.

That percentage is above the threshold set by the Hot Springs County School District.

The game at TR will not be made up, meaning the Eagles have to find another opponent, or not play a game this week.

If the team does find another opponent, it will most likely be a JV squad from a bigger school (Sheridan, Buffalo, one fo the Gillette schools, or one of the Casper schools).

If TR can’t find another opponent, the next game is scheduled for Friday, September 10th at home vs. Burns at 2pm.
