Council Accepts ARPA Funds Award

Acceptance of American Rescue Plan Act funding was an item recently considered by the Sheridan City Council at a special meeting. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.
The American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 is a 1.9 trillion economic stimulus package that was passed by Congress and signed into law by President Joe Biden on March 11. In order for the City of Sheridan to receive their allotted amount of the funding package, the City Council must accept the award and agree to the terms and conditions of the stimulus funds. The Council, during a special meeting this week, agreed to accept the ARPA funds and the terms and conditions with those funds. City of Sheridan Treasurer Karen Burtis addressed the Council prior to the Council’s action.
The acceptance agreement was sent to the state so that it can process the payments to the cities and towns by their deadline to disseminate the funds. Burtis said the City of Sheridan is eligible to receive $2.739 million in ARPA funds.
