Taking Ownership

The City of Sheridan has taken ownership of 5th Street from Main Street to the I-90 Interchange. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.

A maintenance agreement between the City of Sheridan and the Wyoming Department of Transportation was executed in 2019 that stipulated that WYDOT would be responsible for designing and installing a traffic signal and ADA crossings at the intersection of 5th Street and Sheridan Avenue. In exchange, the City agreed to take ownership of 5th Street from Main Street to the I-90 Interchange, and the City would maintain the roadway, signal, and crossings at no cost to WYDOT.

The following is a brief exchange between City Councilman Andy Patceg and Public Works Director Hanns Mercer that took place at a previous City Council study session.

The Agreement of Acceptance for East 5th Street was approved by the City Council under the consent agenda of their latest business meeting.

I hope the city can keep 5th street in great shape during the winter . The main artery to the hospital. At times that road has been very slick at times of snow .
