The Wyoming Legislature’s Joint Appropriations Committee will begin supplemental budget hearings Monday. The hearings and discussion of draft legislation will be conducted at the Wyoming State Capitol in Cheyenne. A live video stream of the supplemental budget hearings will be available on the Legislature’s YouTube channel. According to the Legislative Service Office, each state agency or department making a supplemental budget request will appear before the JAC during budget hearings.

A supplemental budget request occurs when an agency believes it may need additional funding or for purposes of funding reductions to the agency’s approved 2025-2026 biennial budget. Once the hearings are complete, the JAC will then “work” the budgets and approve, deny, or modify each request. Newly appointed members of the JAC will also have an opportunity to consider budgets when the Committee reconvenes in January.

The 2025 General Session of the Legislature is slated to begin on Tuesday, January 14. The full Legislature will debate and approve the supplemental budget bill during “budget week” January 31 through February 7.
