The Sheridan Economic and Educational Authority joint powers board – also known as SEEDA – has formally authorized the board’s attorney, Rex Arney, to negotiate with Vacutech in winding down agreements involving Vacutech expansion.

Robert Briggs, who’s SEEDA administrator, elaborated in a meeting of the SEEDA board earlier this week.

Briggs said he will assist Arney in the matter.

Citing uncertainty over the economic impacts of the COVID-19 virus pandemic, Vacutech sent a letter last month to the chairman of the SEEDA board, asking that SEEDA stop plans for an expansion of Vacutech.

Working on Vacutech’s behalf, SEEDA has been working for funds to build a 40,000 square foot facility intended to help the company expand operations in Sheridan.

Briggs said Arney’s role in negotiating with the Vacutech leadership will be to establish a baseline and craft options that the SEEDA board will, ultimately, decide on.
