New COVID-19 Information from Jo Co EOC

The Johnson County Emergency Operations Center issued a release Tuesday with new information concerning COVID-19 in the county.

The Wyoming Department of Health is currently posting updates daily at 10am and 5pm on their COVID-19 page.

As of Wednesday afternoon, Wyoming has 130 confirmed cases, with 7 in Johnson County, who are self-isolating at home.

Medical Liaison Dr. Dozier Tabb reports that drug trials of two drugs, hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin, continue in the US but results are not yet conclusive.

He said according to recent figures from infectious disease specialist Dr. Fauci, the death rate of COVID-19 is currently 1% in the US. The rate is 10 times more than the influenza death rate.

A recent White House briefing anticipates the virus to peak in mid-April.

To combat the virus on surfaces, the CDC recommends a solution of 4 tsp of bleach per quart of water.

Corona virus tests are limited, and there are three testing priorities at this time, with the first as sick patients and healthcare workers with symptoms; second as those 65 and older with symptoms, those in long-term care, those with other health issues such as diabetes, obesity, lung problems, etc.; and third, healthcare workers, first-responders, critical infrastructure workers with symptoms.

The City of Buffalo has closed the Skate Park until further notice to support the community-wide efforts to maintain appropriate social distance.

The Bread of Life Food Pantry will be open the first Saturday of the month (April 4th) from 9 to 10:30am.

The pantry will also open Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 5 to 7pm.
