Lease Agreement Authorization Approved by City Council

A resolution to authorize lease agreements for City owned property was an item of consideration at Monday night’s Sheridan City Council meeting. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.

Lease Agreement Authorization Approved by City Council

The residence at 476 Marion Street is owned by the City of Sheridan.  A resolution authorizing City Administrator Stu McRae to enter into residential lease agreements between the City and new city employees to provide temporary housing at the home on Marion was approved by a vote of 4 to 3 by the City Council at their recent meeting. McRae addressed the governing body prior to their vote.

Councilors Andrew Patceg, Kristen Jennings and Steve Brantz voted against the resolution. Councilman Brantz on why he opposed using the home as temporary housing for newly hired City employees.

Mayor Rich Bridger also spoke on the issue prior to the vote.

The residential lease agreement terms that were approved in the resolution are month-to-month and no longer than six months per lease agreement.

Other news from the City Council meeting:

A new position at the City of Sheridan was up for consideration at Monday night’s regular Sheridan City Council meeting. The assistant clerk position received unanimous approval by the City Council. The position will support the Municipal Court clerk and take on responsibilities within the Clerk’s Office. City Clerk/Strategy Director Cecilia Good.

According to the job description from the City of Sheridan, the assistant clerk position is an entry-level position and is responsible for learning and performing accounting and clerical duties in support of the Municipal Court and City Clerk’s Office. The position is a grade 12 position on the City’s pay scale, which equates to around $20 to $21 an hour.
