Sheridan Commission OK’s Wildfire Defense Grant Application

The Sheridan County Commission discussed a grant application to the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) Forest Service for the 2023 Community Wildfire Defense Grant (CWDG).

Sheridan County Fire Warden Chris Thomas talked more about the grant during the commission’s meeting this week.

Commission Chairwoman Christi Haswell and Thomas discussed the importance of updating the county’s plan.

According to the grant documents, the amount of the grant is $132,000 with a local in-kind match of $13,226 for a total amount of $145,226.

The commission approved the grant application with Commissioner Holly Jennings voting against.
