SAGE Community Arts has taken advantage of the construction happening in downtown Sheridan to showcase local artists.
Specifically, the construction screens utilized by contractors to help conceal the work being completed on Sheridan’s Main Street is now a place to view works by local artists.
Executive Director of SAGE Community Arts, Jill Benson stopped by Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse to discuss the development of the idea.
The idea originated from Pam Gable, owner of Jackalope Ranch Mercantile and Megan Cook, owner of Java Moon. Both businesses are located in downtown Sheridan.
According to Benson, artists and photographers jumped at the chance to be a part of the project. The only challenge during the development was the size of the banners.
Benson said SAGE has more of the banners that she would like to get on the screens in the near future featuring artists from all over the region.
Once the construction is complete, she would like to partner with other Sheridan entities to display the banners on fences or walls.
Artists do not have to be members of SAGE Community Arts to have their work displayed. Benson said there is plenty of room should more artists become interested in showing their work in this unorthodox but well curated gallery.
